I saw your post about Italians, really interesting. I live in Australia and I'm half Greek, that's to say I have an entire Greek family as well as an Australian one. Where I live Greeks and Italians pretty much come under the same term of "wogs", which I believe is derogatory. I don't think we're separated that much or there's defining characteristics according to the majority of non Greeks/Italians that make us different. Interesting how it changes in other parts of the world. :)

A lot of the differences between Italians and Greeks get blurred or erased when they immigrate, there’s usually camaraderie between the two immigrant communities; the saying “una faccia una razza” is thrown around a lot (“one face, one race”) despite differences like religion, language, food etc. A few decades ago it was more important for similar immigrant communities to stick together. 

In Canada we’re WOPs (even though I was born here…) but we have a word for Canadians too: mangiacake. Cause they eat so much cake and boring refined white bread and sugar.
